How to Get to Know the Bible Better {A New Series}

So many of you have been asking me for advice on how to study the Bible, which makes my heart beat faster in the excited way because I LOVE studying the Bible and it's an HONOR to pour out what God is pouring into me, but, it also makes my heart beat faster in the nervous way, because it's just super humbling...

This is my favorite thing. I'd give my good leg to get to sit on the floor all day long, surrounded by commentaries and lexicons and journals and multiple versions of the Bible and too many cups of coffee. But really, I'm just a totally unqualified girl who needs a whole lot of grace, loves Jesus with all I've got, and knows that the Word of God is my lifeline.

I study the Bible because it's the living, breathing, voice of the very God of the universe who loves me with a love I could never fathom and who is always faithful, always loving, always constant, always good. I study the Bible because I love it and I crave it. I study it because I want to better know the one who saved me and I want to be like Him. And I study it because I wouldn't survive without it.

That being said, I'm thrilled to be beginning a new series on the blog: How to Get to Know the Bible Better. Which, ultimately, will lead to the answers to a whole lot more how-to's, like...

  • how to get to know God better,
  • how to be changed by His Word,
  • how to find direction and understand His will for your life,
  • how to find quality time with God in a busy life,
  • how to memorize Scripture,
  • how to pass God's Word onto your kids,
  • how to effectively use the original languages and commentaries and cross-referencing,
  • and how to hear God's voice through His Word.

We're going to start with: How to Get to Know the Bible Better {Through a Psalm}. I'm going to share an easy method that I LOVE for going deep in Scripture with just a Bible, a journal and a pen, and your heart. I'll add extra "going further" tips, too. Check back for that post later this week!
