To Choose Joy

Where does my help come from?

By the end of a long day, when things didn’t go as I had planned and pain was hitting me hard, I began to feel sorry for myself. I began to wonder if I could take anymore.

Have you felt that?

The struggle: Can I handle anything else? Will I make it through?

Then God, in His gentleness and grace, moved in my heart and reminded me of the words of this Psalm:

I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:1-2)

He is our help. Nothing is too hard for Him.

He holds every tear that we cry. He carries us when we don’t have strength to walk. He goes before us in every step.

We belong to Him.

And He will never leave us—no matter the weight of our day.

Cast  your  cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
(Psalm 55:22)

I'm so thankful that we really can bring all of our cares to the Lord. He listens. He cares. He holds us. He helps us.

My new Captive Cards and Captive: Worry Cleanse Devotional Journal are on their way into the shop in April. They’re designed to help us focus on the truth when our thoughts overwhelm us. To help us take our thoughts captive and surrender them to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). To help us remember the God who cares about our cares through all that we face.

I need these so badly! I hope they'll be able to help some of you, too!
