It's been so encouraging to hear your feedback so far and to see the amazing things that God is doing in all of our hearts...and this is only the beginning of the Challenge!
I had an opportunity to put our re-defined JOY into practice today when I took my three kiddos to the grocery store just before dinner (I know...what was I thinking, right?!). But, hubby was sick, and we needed to get some things to make him feel better! Anyway, all three kids started simultaneously climbing out of the cart in the middle of the aisles, pulling each other's hair, and screaming at the tops of their lungs.
At first, I began to sweat. How. Many. More. Steps. Until. The. Door...
And then, I attempted to grow a third arm.
It didn't work.
Then, I wrangled all three of them up into my arms and tried to push the cart at the same time (under normal circumstances, I'd leave the cart full of groceries and go to the car to administer Proverbs-approved justice, but, again...hubby was sick, and I really wanted to get him these things).
Anyway, as I neared the checkout, really sweating by this point, I was reminded of our Bible Study today. I asked God to help me to recognize His grace in that moment and to rejoice in Him even though my circumstance was a little bit nuts.
And do you know what happened? Peace. His peace rushed over me, even through the fray around me. And my thoughts shifted from slightly-traumatized to completely-thankful. Because God is good even when life is crazy. And He's worthy of all of our worship and all of our focus.
Joy.
